Visitation / Calling Hours

Visitation provides a special time for family and friends to share in their grief. As memories are recalled and stories told, the family begins the process of coming to terms with the passing of their loved one. During this time members of the community also come to pay tribute and express their sympathy to the family.

Visitation may be formal or casual, depending on the preference of the family. We strongly encourage families to bring in personal photos and mementos for display to make the event more personal and meaningful.

There are several options for calling hours:

The family may chose to have an "open casket" so that the deceased may be viewed. The family may wish to have a private viewing for the family, with the casket closed for the public visitation. The family may opt not to view their loved one, and have a closed casket with a photo of the deceased atop the casket.

If the deceased is to be cremated prior to visitation, the cremains present in an urn, surrounded by flowers, photos and mementos.

The family may choose neither to have the body nor the cremains present and display photos and mementos only.
