Social Security

When a person dies, there are financial benefits available to a widow/widower or surviving dependents of the deceased through social security.  

The most common benefit available is a lump sum benefit of $255 entitled to a surviving widow or widower. By law, we, the funeral home, are required to send notification to the Social Security Administration notifying them that the death has occurred.  This stops any further social security checks from being sent to the deceased.
