Maryellen,
I was saddened to hear of Mel's passing. He was always so nice to me! I believe it was him who set up your tent so we could camp in your backyard and sing songs half the night. He was generous with the grape juice and the bread too!
He was so proud when the boys were born,I can still see his face.I wish I would have known him later in life, I am sure he was as much fun then.
Gods blessings to you,and your whole family. R.I.P. Mel.

My memories of Mel are some of the best. I worked at Growmark FS in Knowlesville for 15 years, and I got to know Mel as a bright spot in my day when he showed up with my CARQUEST order. Although Mel was older by about 13 years, it was like we were from the same era. I looked forward to our conversations and missed him after I retired, but as luck would have it, I would see him at CARQUEST when I was stopping in for parts for my own vehicles. Mel was like the 'king of one-liners" and it always got us into verbal sparring and I usually wound up losing the match to Mel. But as I think back, the people around us, like the counter guys at CARQUEST or my co-workers at Growmark, would wind up laughing thier butts off at the two elderly friends "jawing" at each other. My sincere sympathy to the family of one of the nicest guys I had ever met in my life....I dearly miss my friend Mel............

We were very sad to learn that Uncle Mel had passed away. My mother, Louise, is heartbroken as she has lost her big brother. They last spoke on his birthday, a conversation she will treasure for the rest of her life. We are very sorry that we will not be able to attend his services as she is not able to travel due to her health. Our condolences to the rest of his family.
