Obituary of Elaine K. Jamele

Mrs. Elaine K. Jamele, of Medina, passed away on January 19, 2017 at the Martin-Linsin Hospice Residence.
Elaine was born at home in Medina, July 4, 1937, a daughter of the late Sylvester Kelley and Evelyn M. (Chichester) Kelley Roach Thiel. A graduate of St. Mary’s School, Medina High School, class of 1955, and Buffalo State College, she married Carl F. Jamele on July 20, 1957.
She was employed by the Medina Central School District in the Oak Orchard Elementary School Library from 1966-1977. She was the Children’s Librarian at Lee-Whedon Memorial Library from 1977-1998. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary’s Church, the Tuesday Club and Sweet Adelines. Both she and Carl were involved with TOPA.
She was a dedicated walker and a member of Silver Sneakers. She enjoyed the outdoors, flower gardening and observing the seasons from her sunroom. Books and reading were simply essential to her life.
Elaine treasured time with her grandchildren, Nicole and Christopher, and greatly enriched their lives.
Survivors include her two children, Cynthia (Daniel) Parada and Christopher Jamele; 2 grandchildren, Nicole (Johnny) Kong and Christopher Parada; 2 great grandchildren, Jack and Fiona; 2 sisters, Marilyn R. Rebert and Carol (Edward) Jablonski; several nieces, nephews and her beloved dog, Abby. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl, on Dec. 28, 2010, her father, in 1938 and her mother, in 1990.
Friends may call on Sunday (4-7) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center St., Medina. The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls will celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10AM at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary’s Church and interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
