Obituary of Mildred S. Wilson-Baker

Mrs. Mildred S. Wilson Baker, 107, of Medina, entered Heaven on June 8, 2017.


Mrs. Baker was born in Kent, NY, September 7, 1909, a daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Kruger) Schildt.  She attended Kendall schools and on March 1, 1932, she married Maurice Wilson. They resided in Childs where they raised two daughters.  She was employed by Dr. Harold Collins as an Au pair, worked for Nobility Silverware, W.T. Grant Co., Landauer’s Dept. Store, was the toy department manager at the Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School and retired as the activities Director at Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital.  She also sold apples on the Murray Baker farm.


Mrs. Baker was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Kendall, the church Ladies Aid group and taught Sunday school.  She was a member of the Medina Garden Club, Medina Memorial Hospital Twig and volunteered at the hospital gift shop and First Presbyterian Church.  She operated Grannies Teddies in her daughter’s store, The Personal Touch.  For years, she collected and repaired antique dolls and was known as the “Doll Lady”.  Following the death of her first husband on July 6, 1968, she married Murray Baker in 1975.


Survivors include her daughter, Sandra (Alen) Wheeler of Fairport; her son-in-law, Frank R. Berger of Medina; 4 grandsons, Gary (Katie) Berger, Bryan Berger, Todd (Beth) Wheeler and Kevin (Sandi) Wheeler; 7 great grandchildren, Corey (Kyra) Berger, Nicole and Brenna Berger, Ashley, Jessica, Maxwell and Benjamin Wheeler; several nieces, nephews and the North Wing resident kitty, Lucy.  She was predeceased by her husbands, Maurice Wilson and Murray Baker and her daughter, Nancy W. Berger on Sept. 27, 2015.


Friends may call on Friday (4-7) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.  Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12 Noon at the East Shelby Community Bible Church.  Pastor Erik Olsen will officiate and interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery, West Kendall.
