Obituary of Donna S. Bailey
Mrs. Donna S. Bailey, of Middleport, passed away on August 5, 2017, at Niagara Hospice House.
Mrs. Bailey was born in the Town of Somerset, New York, February 10, 1939, a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Edith (Herendeen) Snakle. A graduate of Barker High School, class of 1958, she married Dennis W. Bailey on October 5, 1963, at County Line United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Bailey was employed by FMC, as a secretary, for 24 years. She also worked for the Royalton Hartland Central School, in the office, for about 12 years. During that time, she served the Town of Hartland as a partime assessor, and in 1990, she became the full time assessor. She worked as the assessor for 20 years.
Active in the community, Donna was a lifelong member of County Line United Methodist Church. She served on many church committees. She was a strong supporter of the Middleport Volunteer Fire Company, a longtime member and Past President of the Auxiliary. She enjoyed her job as the “ticket lady” for the 25 week club. Donna volunteered with Red Cross Blood Mobile, worked with Niagara County Board of Elections, was a member and treasurer of the Johnson Creek Senior Citizens. She enjoyed her flower garden, camping, cruise nights, special events, and car shows with their 1929 Model A. The Baileys snowmobiled for 35 years and they enjoyed the company of many friends and attended NASCAR racing. She was fond of Country music and trips to the casino.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 54 years, Dennis; 2 sons, Douglas (Donna Lee) Bailey and Darrin (Kimberly) Bailey; 5 special grandchildren, Breonna, Brennan, Brysen, Katlyn and Meghan; 3 great grandchildren, Noah, Jaylyn and Jayden; her sister-in-law, Jean Ferri; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her infant sister, Julia Anne Snakle, in 1938, and her brother-in-law, Michael A. Ferri, in 2017.
Friends may call on Wednesday (7-9), Thursday (2-4, 7-9) at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Services will be held on Friday at 10AM at Countyline United Methodist Church. 1385 County Line Rd, Barker. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.
