Obituary of Betty J. Wood

Mrs. Betty J. Wood, of Medina, passed away on her birthday, October 13, 2017 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home.

Betty was born in Medina, October 13, 1934, a daughter of the late William “Bud” and Vivian (Anstey) Howe.  A lifelong area resident, she married Edward I. Wood on November 19, 1960.  Betty worked as a phone company switchboard operator and at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in housekeeping for ten years.  She was a member of Millville Methodist Church, was active with the Shelby Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in the 1950’s and enjoyed the Senior Citizens of Western Orleans.

Survivors include her son, Scott (Valerie) Wood of Middleport, her grandchildren, Stephanie Wood, Julie Dean (Jeremiah), Alicia Dean (Josh) and Richard Francisconi (Lindsey); great-grandchildren, Audrey, Liam, Wyatt and Brynn; sister, Kathy (Leonard) Balcerzak of Medina; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She was predeceased by her husband, Ed, on March 16, 2002 and her sisters, Karen Ralph and Carol Johnson.

Friends may call on Wednesday 10-1 at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where here funeral service will be held at 1PM.  Interment will be in Boxwood Cemetery.
