Obituary of Dorothy E. Merrill

Mrs. Dorothy E. Merrill, of Lyndonville, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2017 at the Martin-Linsin Hospice Residence.
Mrs. Merrill was born at home on County House Road, Albion, February 25, 1935, one of nine children of the late William Robert and Margaret (Wooster) Grimes.  On October 18, 1958, she married Richard William Merrill.  She resided in the area and operated the Sweet Shop in Lyndonville in the early 1970’s.  She also worked at Lyndonville Canning Company.  On New Year’s Eve, 1982 she moved to Florida.  She was employed by Disney World for 20 years and following the death of her husband, she moved back to Orleans County in 2007.
Mrs. Merrill attended Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church.  She lived her life and believed in the motto:  “do not judge people and have fun”.
Survivors include her children, David (Mabel) Merrill of FL, Lori (Ronald) Hubbard of Batavia, Rick (Leslie) Merrill of Albion, and Lisa Merrill of Holley; her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Merrill of NC; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; her brother, Ted Grimes; several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband in March, 2006; her son, Douglas Merrill in 2002; her siblings, Mildred Southcott, Gordon Grimes, Donald Grimes, Alice Bropst, Jean Merek, Joyce Peruzzini, and Geraldine Dillon.
Friends may call on Saturday (10-12) at Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church, 12111 Ridge Road, Medina, where her service will follow at noon.  Pastor Daniel Thurber will officiate and interment will be in Kenyonville Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church or Hospice of Orleans County.
