Obituary of Roger L. Kenyon

Mr. Roger L. Kenyon, of Barker, went to be with Our Lord on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Buffalo General Hospital. Mr. Kenyon was born on January 7, 1931, a son of the late Gordon and Myra Kenyon. A graduate of Barker High School, he served four years in the U.S. Navy as a radioman 2nd Class aboard the U.S.S. Shadwell, receiving his certificate for 1st class after his discharge in 1954. A devoted husband, he married Marilyn Cook in 1951 and they shared a joyous life for over 64 years. They had three loving children and built their lives around them. They were his world; Elizabeth Waas of Middleport, Rebecca (Michael) Elsmore of Tucson, AZ and Steven Kenyon of Barker. Roger was a very kind man to all. He loved life: a man of few words and a very good listener. He was employed by Crosby Whipple in Lyndonville for over 50 years. Survivors include his wife and children; 5 grandchildren, Timothy (Kimberly) Kenyon of Lyndonville, Anthony “Tony” Kenyon of Lincolnshire, England, Theresa (Bo) Gobeli of Medina, Jessica (Daniel) Sutch of Middleport and Rachel Kenyon of Tucson; 7 great grandchildren, Emma S. and Steven Gobeli, Abigail Sutch and Leah, Grace, Grant and Garrett Kenyon that kept him moving and entertained. Very dear to Roger were nephews, Tom Kenyon of Lyndonville, and Terry Kenyon of Kent, and Lorrie Knight of Medina; his sisters-in-law, Noreen Kenyon of FL, Beatrice Cook, Louise Nicholson, Suzanne Bigelow, Phyllis Allport, Janice (David) Wells all of Medina and Margery Cook of NH; several nieces, nephews and cousins, Gloria Collins of FL and Lois (Harold) Niethe of Barker. He was predeceased by his sister, Rita Welliver and brothers, Gordon J. and Delbert Kenyon. Services will held at Lyndonville Methodist Church on Friday at 11AM with Pastor Beth Malone officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the church by members of Houseman Tanner Post, # 1603, American Legion, Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion and Lincoln Post #1483, VFW. There will be no prior calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorials made out in Roger’s name to Lyndonville United Methodist Church, Yates Community Library or the Lyndonville Vol. Fire Company.
