Obituary of Anthony Francis Stefaniak
Mr. Anthony F. Stefaniak, of Medina, passed away unexpectedly late Tuesday evening, February 27, 2018 at the Eastern Niagara Hospital Emergency Room.
Mr. Stefaniak was born in Buffalo, January 12, 1926, a son of the late Joseph and Katherine J. (Sygnet) Stefaniak. The family resided in Alabama until 1935 when they moved to Medina. A graduate of Sacred Heart School, class of 1944, he served in the US Army from 1944-46. He served with the 99th and 4th Infantry, in the European Theatre, Rhine River and Ardennes Forest, under General George S. Patton. He survived the Battle of the Bulge. Following his discharge, he married the former Bertha Konon.
Mr. Stefaniak was employed by General Electric, for 15 years and Eastman Kodak Company, for 25 years, retiring in 1989.
Mr. Stefaniak was a longtime member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Parish. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Club, Lincoln Post #1483, VFW, Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed gardening, golfing and his travels throughout the United States, Canada and Alaska. He spent many happy hours singing with the barbershop quartet, The Bargemen.
Survivors include his children, Kathy (Frank) Bossman, Michael (Darlene Mariani) Stefaniak, James (Carol) Stefaniak, David (Carolin) Stefaniak and Joann (Charles) Sellers; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, his sister, Lottie Stefaniak; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Stefaniak was predeceased by his wife, Bertha, on June 17, 1992; 3 sisters, Josephine Grabowski, Sophie Strickland, Helen Maier, his brother, Stanley J. Stefaniak, 2 sisters-in-law, Irene Zdziebko and Jean Karney and his brother-in-law, Alfred Konon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11AM at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary’s Church by the Rev. Daniel J. Fawls. Military honors will be accorded at graveside at Sacred Heart Cemetery by members of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion.
