Obituary of Ronald B. Winans
Mr. Ronald B. Winans, of Medina, passed away on August 23, 2018 at the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
Mr. Winans was born in Medina, June 8, 1929, a son of the late Burton E. and Helen Lorraine (Chichester) Winans. A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1948, he served with the New York Army National Guard for many years, retiring as a drill sergeant. He was employed by the Medina Central School District, as the head mechanic in the Transportation Department and by the New York State Department of Transportation, as a bus inspector, for many years, retiring in 1985.
Ron was a wonderful Dad and a proud grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and gambling at Turning Stone. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary’s Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; daughter, Terah (Roger) Jackson and son, Michael Winans; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Mary Winans; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen; parents, sister, Marcia Fredericks in 1960 and brother, Robert J. Winans in 2004.
Friends may call on Tuesday (7-9) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center Street, Medina. The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11AM at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by members of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion.
