Obituary of James A. Johnson

James A. Johnson, 78, entered into rest on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the Medina Memorial Hospital.

Born June 17, 1940 in Warsaw, NY Jim was a son of the late Ezra and Helen (Rix) Johnson. He graduated from Batavia High School, class of 1958. Upon graduation he went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1962. Jim was an electronics technician by trade and specialized in TV repair. He owned and operated The TV Doctor in Medina and was employed by Bramer Electric for many years. Jim was a certified umpire for the slowpitch softball leagues. At one time he served as president for the U.S. Slowpitch Softball Association. He was a longtime patron of Rudy’s Diner and the Country Club Restaurant in Medina where he made many friends and enjoyed socializing.

Survivors include his wife, Judy (May) Johnson; six children, James (Pamela) Johnson, Jr., Jean (Vivon Wenner) Johnson, Jeffrey (Angela) Johnson, Jennie Johnson, Jerrod Johnson and Joy Johnson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Donald W. Johnson.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 30th from 2-5 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where his funeral service will immediately follow at 5 p.m. Pastor Dean Shingleton will officiate. Burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Military honors will be accorded by members of Lincoln Post #1483, V.F.W. and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion.
