Obituary of Lorraine M. Bukiewicz

Lorraine M. Bukiewicz (nee Washak), 95, of Medina entered into rest on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 following a brief illness.

Born May 2, 1924 in Medina, she was daughter of the late Francis and Sophia (Karlowski) Washak. Mrs. Bukiewicz attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Medina High School in the class of 1942. She married Leo A. Bukiewicz on November 25, 1943 and together raised a family of ten children. Mrs. Bukiewicz was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church and was a member of Court Santa Maria #295, Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Survivors include her seven children, Jean (Dr. Luis) Zaffirini of Texas, Ellen (Mark) Goheen of Lyndonville, Ruth (Dr. Javier) Miro of California, Michael Bukiewicz of Texas, Mary C. (Dennis) O’Grady of Albion, John Bukiewicz of Delaware and Barbara Bukiewicz of Medina; nine grandchildren, Kara (fiancé, Michael Stafford) Goheen, Brett (Julia) Goheen, Jenna (fiancé, Marcus Fisher) Goheen, Elizabeth (Jose) Zaffirini-Rivas, Luis (Tony Veloz) Zaffirini, Jr., Laura Zaffirini, Jennifer (Michael) Carlozzi, Melissa (Ryan) Leach and Anna (Borzin) Davari; eight great-grandchildren; her niece, Mary Ann Chunco, who was a great help to her during her recent illness; several other nieces and nephews; and family friend, Dorothy Albanese.

Predeceased by her husband, Leo Bukiewicz on Feb. 1, 2006; four children, Ann Marie Bukiewicz in Sept. 1964, Peter Bukiewicz on Aug. 19, 1999, Lois Bukiewicz on Dec. 31, 2008, and Paul Bukiewicz on July 1, 2012; her brother, Francis Washak, Jr. in 1944 and sister, Gertrude Chunco on May 26, 2010.

Relatives and friends may call on Monday, Aug 5^th from 4-7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Fawls on Tuesday, Aug. 6^th at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina and interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
