"A farmers wife's work is never done," she would say to me.
Tonight, I pay tribute to a very strong woman who was in my life a lifetime ago. Her strength and fortitude as the wife of a farmer, a mother, an amazing cook, and if that wasn't enough, she tended to the calves, took care of all the books for the large dairy, agricultural crop and apple farm is unsurpassed. Her home was always as clean and tidy as can be, and her laundry loads were unbelievable, keeping up with all the laundry duties that needed to be provided for a 24/7 large dairy farm, when she had all her other work done. Not many would have kept up her pace, not even close.
She fed the masses for most lunches, and if you worked into the evening hours you were treated to an amazing super as well, complete with one of her delicious apple pie deserts. She was early to rise and the last one to hit the hay at night. She was faithful to her belief in her God, and so very much more.
I always will have a deep love and respect for June. She taught me how to safely prepare and can tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, ice pickles, dill and sweet pickles and add parsley to hot butter for delicious coating on mashed and baked potatoes. Oh how I would look forward to that treat for sure. I owe my desire to still stock the pantry with canned homemade goods every fall to this day because of her lifetime of valuable lessons in cooking skills and her baking skills that were beyond compare that she shared with me. One, if lucky enough to be invited to feast at her dining table, could always count on a full delicious meal every single seating. A full set table, with a full ice cold glass of whole cows milk freshly brought to her kitchen every night by her beloved husband. No peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were ever presented to you to eat at her dinner table. You left the dining table satisfied and renewed to carry on your days work on the farm.
June, if ever I could hope for anything, I hope I will live the full life you have. May your body, soul and heart now rest, your work is done here. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My deepest sympathies to her beloved family and friends.
Sincerely,
Deborah Loke
