Donald C. Harmer, 75, of Medina entered into rest Tuesday, September 29, 2020.

Born November 14, 1944 in Medina, Don was a son of the late Herbert and Eva (Bacon) Harmer. He graduated in the class on 1964 from Medina High School. He worked for Harrison Radiator Division of GM in Lockport and retired in 1999. Don enjoyed hunting and was also a longtime member of the Junior Wilson Sportsman’s Club in Medina. An active lifelong volunteer fireman, Don belonged to multiple fire departments in the area. He was a proud member of the Medina Fire Dept., Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Co. and the Shelby Volunteer Fire Co. Don’s selfless volunteering will gratefully be remembered by the community.

Beside his parents, Don was predeceased by his son, Donald “Spike” Harmer, Jr.; in-laws, Harold and Elizabeth Stockwell; brothers, Douglas Bush and Jimmy Harmer; sister, Joyce Rossow; brother and sisters in-law, Richard Stockwell, Billie Stockwell, JoAnn (Bill) Arnett; son in-law, Timothy Washburn; and nephew, William “Buddy” Arnett, Jr.

Survivors include his daughter, Hope E. Washburn of Medina; sons, Derrek (Laura) Harmer of Lyndonville and Aaron (Jamie) Harmer of GA; grandchildren, Chris (Lyssa) Cooper, Nicole (Jacob) Golding, Christopher Harmer, Zachary Harmer and Luke Harmer; great-grandchildren, Karleigh, Kyndel and Vincent Cooper and Lucas James Golding; sister, Dolores (Don) Whittleton; brothers, Herbert (Cathy) Harmer, Jr. and Ricky (Lynne) Harmer; brother and sisters in-law, Larry (Dorothy) Stockwell, Harold “Brother” (Jackie) Stockwell, Sandy Stockwell, June Bush and Kathy Stockwell; also several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 203 West Ave., Medina, where his memorial service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
