Obituary of Harold R. Smith, Jr.

Harold R. Smith, Jr., 52, of Medina, entered into rest suddenly on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Medina Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born November 20, 1963 in Medina, Harold was the son of the late Harold R. Smith, Sr. and Emily J. (Kiser) Smith. He graduated from Medina High School in the class of 1981 and went on to work at BMP America, Inc. in Medina for over 30 years, where he worked as a shipping coordinator. Harold was an avid hunter and fisher, loved riding his Harley and was an avid Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan. A family man, Harold’s greatest joy in life was being a proud papa. He will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, papa, brother and friend. Survivors include his loving wife, Heather E. (Wright) Smith, whom he married September 25, 1988; cherished daughters, Hillary (Karl VanDerbrook) Smith and Holli (Michael Flatley, Jr.) Smith; beloved granddaughters, Emily Jean and Natalie Grace; brothers, Robert Smith, David (Cindy) Smith and Ronald (Dawn) Smith; several nieces and nephews including, Adam (McKenzie) Smith, Courtney McHugh, Erin (Erik Mattes) McHugh, Brandon Smith, Wendy DiCureia, Pam Covelle, Lisa Clark and Robin Maynard; several aunts and uncles; brother in-law, Daniel Wright; sisters in-law, Vicki Wright and Kathy (John) McHugh; and life-long friends, Jeffrey Allen, Kyle McAvoy, Dennis Dombrowski and Ronald Capizzi. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, MaryLou Maynard and brother, Michael E. Smith. Per Harold’s request, there will be no prior calling hours. A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were completed through Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family would be greatly appreciated.
