Obituary of Bernardine R. Tabelski

Bernardine R. “Buzz” Tabelski, passed away on March 10, 2021 at the Medina Memorial Hospital, exactly 23 years on the day of her husband’s passing.

Born on September 24, 1927 a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Majeski) Matusak, Bernardine was a lifelong resident of Medina. A Beautician by trade, she was the owner of Bernie’s Beauty Shop for many years. She also worked at BOCES as a cosmetology assistant, taught adult education and served as a State Board Examiner. Bernardine was a longtime parishioner of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church in Medina where she was a member of the choir, was President of the Rosary Society and also President of the Mother’s Club. She loved her family and her GG babies. Bernardine enjoyed walking, doing crafts, would bedazzle anything, knitting mittens for the mitten tree and also attending Bible Class at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church.

Mrs. Tabelski was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Matthew Tabelski. She is survived by her daughters, Christine (Wilson) Barnes and Donna Tabelski both of Lockport; son, Matthew Tabelski of Medina; grandchildren, Adam (Rachael) Tabelski of Batavia and Sarah Fujiuchi of Buffalo; great-grandchildren, Adrian and Anna Tabelski and Max and Margot Fujiuchi; her sister, Dolores Potrubacz; brother, Francis Matusak; and loving cousin, Gloria Kuhn. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by sisters, Rosemary Matusak and Arlene Stevenson and brothers, Leonard, Raymond and Joseph Matusak, Jr.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the caring staff at the North Wing Skilled Nursing Facility, where she resided for the last five years and who gave such compassionate care to Buzzy and her family.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 12^th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 13^th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
