Obituary of Leon F. O'Kussick

Mr. Leon F. O’Kussick, of Medina, passed away on January 21, 2016 at his home.
Mr. O’Kussick was born in Medina, May 18, 1926, a son of the late Peter and Sophia (Shubuck) O’Kussick. He served in the US Army during World War II, from 1944-46 in the European Theater and in Germany. On October 14, 1950, he married the former Rosina “Rose” Stornelli and they resided in Medina lifelong. He was employed by Mike Bokman in the auto body shop from 1950-1965. He then was employed by Harrison Radiator Division of GMC, as a repairman, for 22 ½ years, retiring in 1988.
Mr. O’Kussick was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing, woodworking and bowling. He spent many hours woodworking in his shop. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary’s Church, and a 3rd Degree life member of Medina Council #651, Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; 3 children, Patricia (Dick) Townsend of Albion, Mary Ann (Kenneth) Ander of Medina and Peter (Pamela) O’Kussick of Auburn; 5 grandchildren, Scott Boccaccio, Christine Ander, Patrick (Rachael) Ander, Kelly O’Kussick and Leeann (Mark) Cornelius; a great grandchild, Layla Jones; his brother, Anthony (Felicia) O’Kussick; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Marion Dubay and his brother, Joseph O’Kussick.
Friends may call on Monday (4-7) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center Street, Medina. The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 11AM at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery where military honors will be accorded at graveside by members of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW and Butts-Clark post #204, American Legion.
