Obituary of Larry W. Scharlau

Larry W. Scharlau, age 75, of Medina, passed away unexpectedly while on a holiday vacation in Mexico with his wife and family on December 27, 2021.

Born on February 15, 1946 in Medina, Larry was a son of the late Wilbur and Lucille (Clark) Scharlau. He married the former Bonnie Conroy on May 26, 1979. He worked for many years for the Town of Ridgeway Highway Department. Larry was an avid hunter and enjoyed four-wheeling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his in-laws, Howard and Sylvia Conroy.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Bonnie Scharlau; sons, Michael and Bobby; daughter, Kay (Garrison); grandchildren, Garrett, Connor, Blake and Genevieve; siblings, Jimmy, Donna, Cindy and Chris; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Mark Prawel.

Service Announcement: An hour of calling will be held on Saturday, March 26^th from 12pm-1pm at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. A private memorial service will immediately follow and inurnment will be in West Ridgeway Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
