Obituary of Cherie A. Bane Cuadra

Cherie A. Bane Cuadra, 46, of Lockport, entered into rest unexpectedly with her fiancé, Joey by her side on Thursday, February 24, 2022.

Cherie was a daughter of Robert and the late Sharon (Hofert) Bane. She was born in Medina on April 17, 1975. Cherie was a very loving and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. After 26 years together, Cherie and her fiancé, Joey were planning to get married this coming April to solidify their love for one another. She always went above and beyond for people, even if it meant that she would go without. Cherie was a firm believer in that one’s past did not define a person. She never judged anyone. Whether a person or animal, Cherie was accepting with a warm heart and welcoming arms. She fed her neighborhood strays and provided them shelter in addition to her indoor cats, which she treated as if they were her children.

Cherie was predeceased by her mother, Sharon Bane; maternal grandparents, Francis and Betty Magner; paternal grandparents, Howard and Laura Bane; and her beloved great-aunt, Mary Boyland.

Left to cherish her memory are her father, Robert Bane; loving fiancé of 26 years, Joey Cuadra; children, Kayla, Joseph, Shay and Johanna Cuadra; sisters, Kelly (Matt) Burris, Shelly Stillinger, Michelle (Dan) Groves, Terri Bane, Bobbie Bane and Meribeth Bane; in-laws, Vickie Cuadra and Brian Birch; sisters in-law, Melissa Cuadra and Jennifer (Cindy) Cuadra; uncle, Todd Magner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Two weeks before Cherie passed, she shared this quote on Facebook: “What made her brave is how she never stopped struggling with her own issues. She was fighting for her own life, still stepping up, going to the wall for others. All the while never saying a word about the war she was losing. She didn’t want to be remembered for her own battle, she wanted to be remembered for simple things like making someone smile or giving someone hope. She wanted more than anything to leave you a little better than you were before. I hope she did.”  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Aspire Center for Learning at www.aspirewny.org/donate, a disabilities service and support organization. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
