Obituary of Helen B. Morien
Helen B. Morien, age 95, died April 5, 2022, after a short stay at the Martin-Linsin Hospice Residence. She previously resided at The Willows for 5 years.
Helen was born on November 15, 1926 and was the daughter of Anthony and Agnes (Cotriss) Balcerzak. She graduated from Medina High School, worked at "the Sprayer" in Middleport until she married Thomas Morien in 1949 and became a devoted wife and mother. After raising her children, Helen worked as a salesperson and bookkeeper at Kilworths Women’s Clothing Store in Medina for more than 20 years. She was happily married to Thomas for 55 years before his death in 2004. She is survived by her children, Thomas (Celeste), Pamela (Joseph) Misiti and Dennis (Julia). Her top priorities were always faith and family and she was a devoted member of Holy Trinity R.C. Parish, St. Mary’s Church in Medina throughout her life. She attended daily mass and had a special love for the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary, which she always kept at her side. Helen was also an avid and excellent baker and cook, making homemade pierogis, duck soup, placek, danishes and cookies at Christmas and Easter, which she generously shared with her family and friends. Her greatest desire in later life was to be a grandmother, which was fulfilled nine times. Her grandchildren include, Joseph Misiti, Teresa Misiti (Hungerford), Alex Misiti, Andrew Misiti, Evan Morien, Gwen Morien, Cassandra Morien, Gillian Bernal and Trevor Morien. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, Elsie, Lou, Netta and Witt Hungerford, Maddox and Thomas Misiti. For those who had the chance to really get to know Helen, they'll remember her honesty, deep faith, delicious food and pastries, and not least of all; her cheeky jokes, witty sense of humor and indelible laughter.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 13th at 11:00am at Holy Trinity R.C. Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
