Obituary of Wayne W. Litchfield

Wayne W. Litchfield, age 70, of Medina went home to be with his Lord Jesus on Saturday, April 16, 2022. 

Wayne was born on September 18, 1951. He was the son of the late Ruth A. Sylvester and Walter W. Litchfield. He was a graduate of Holley High School class of 1969. Wayne was employed as a dispatcher for the Orleans County Sheriff's Office for over 28 years. 

He is survived by his sister, Diane L. McAvinney and brother in-law, Joseph C. McAvinney; nieces, Erin R. Buchanan, Deborah C. Crosley and nephew, Shaun J. McAvinney and their families; uncle, Charles Kreppeneck; aunts, Nettie Sylvester, Doris Litchfield and Carolyn Novatney; and many cousins.

Wayne was well-known for his numerous volunteer projects, including Hands 4 Hope Street Ministry and Orleans-Recovery Hope Begins Here. He was honored by the Orleans County Chamber of Commerce with a Community Service Award. Wayne was known to don various costumes to lift the spirits of those who had fallen on difficult times.

His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 11:00am at the Albion Free Methodist Church, 25 S. Platt Street, Albion, NY 14411. A light lunch for family members will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Hands 4 Hope Street Ministry, 243 S. Main St. Suite174, Albion, NY 14411. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
