I went to high school with Donna and always enjoyed her company. She was very smart and very loyal to the Arlington Class of 1956. She was one of the major organizers of our subsequent reunions. I spoke with her several times after she moved and she thoroughly enjoyed her new role caring for a young grandson. She will be missed by many people and especially her family. My sincere condolences go to the family. I will treasure my memories of Donna.

I'd like to share a memory also of Donna's dedication to volunteering at the Bardavon in Poughkeepsie, NY. She had put her stamp on taking over the balcony for whatever performance that was there. I say this in jest because that would be one of the first things she would mention to me when I stepped foot into the door when I also volunteered there. It was all in fun of course and we had a great many a laugh over it. I know she was dearly missed when she could no longer make her presence be known there.
And before I forget there is yet another memory that is to this day still hanging in one of my bedroom closets. Donna was an excellent seamstress as most everyone knows and took on the task (but one of love) for making the dresses for the wedding party of her son Philip and daughter-in-law Alycia's beautiful wedding day. One is mine and that of my daughter Robyn(Alycia's goddaughter), who was the flower girl for the occasion. We were honored and excited to be part of their day and to wear such beautifully made dresses. I look forward to someday handing down both dresses to our granddaughter Reese, who will look equally stunning in them.
My heartfelt condolences to Donna's sons and family and all that will miss her dearly.

I am sorry to hear of Donna's passing. I was a coworker at the Health Department. She always treated us as family. My son was lucky enough to be given a handmade quilt by Donna. Her presence at the office has always been missed by me, wishing her family memories and love. Tanya

Donna was a treasured volunteer for the Bardavon Opera House in Poughkeepsie for many years. I was so lucky to have her on our team. There was no one better! She would be the first one to raise her hand and help whatever the event. She was the matron of the balcony and no one dared cross her. She had a gentle but stern demeanor that gained her immeasurable respect. But to have all that with a cutting sense of humor - made her one in a million. And don't get me started on that rock star, Alex!
I cried the day Donna told me she was moving, and I cried harder when I saw her again on a visit. We made jokes about having the same name and I am sure she made so many impressions on so many people on her time here with us. I can't believe how lucky I am to have had her in my life when I did.
Forever grateful and always in my heart -
Donna Verteramo

Donna made such a difference in the Fox Hill One community behind the scenes as the publisher of our FoxSez newsletter keeping us informed for many years. What a great community minded person Donna was and she never asked for any praise for doing it. We need more people like Donna today more than ever. She stepped up and did what needed to be done.
Rest In Peace my neighbor and friend. May your light shine for ever in the lives of those you touched and made a difference in.
