Obituary of Rebecca J. McPherson
Please share a memory of Rebecca to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rebecca “Becky” Jean (Whedon) McPherson, 72, entered into rest at the Martin-Linsin Residence in Albion on August 13, 2022 after a long, hard fought battle with a respiratory illness, surrounded by her children and land bound angel, Jessica James.
Born to the late Margaret E. (Lloyd) Whedon and Fane E. Whedon in Parkersburg, West Virginia on May 14, 1950, the family moved to Medina where Becky was raised and lived her entire life. Becky graduated from Medina High School in 1969 and married her sweetheart, Duane McPherson that same year. She worked for Owens Illinois before working many years at BMP America Inc., where she eventually retired from. Becky loved animals, especially cats, candy and junk food, coffee, friends and music.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Duane G. McPherson; and brother, Thomas F. Whedon.
She is survived by her loving son, Shannon (Shelby) McPherson of Webster; daughter, Charlene (Maurice) Goldner of New York City; niece, Shari (Michael) Ingalsbe Maak of Medina; grandchildren, Key (Tory) McPherson of Burt, Kirsten (Joshua) Shepanski of Churchville and Riley McPherson of Brockport; and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Averi, Brey, Jones and Beckley.
A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no pity. It dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path. Becky was a hurricane, it’s this that will be most missed by everyone who loved her and all she loved.
Becky’s children would like to especially thank Jessica James, the caring nurses and staff at the Martin-Linsin Residence and the Orleans County Office for the Aging.
Per Becky’s request there will be no service nor burial plans. However, there will be a celebration of life planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Becky’s name to Supportive Care of Orleans, 14080 Route 31 West Albion, NY 14411. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
