Obituary of Elaine C. McPherson

Elaine C. McPherson of Medina, entered into rest at her home on September 27, 2016 surrounded by her family. Elaine was born in Medina on December 14, 1951 to Earl Higgs and Lauritta (Lake) Conner. She attended Medina High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1969. Elaine was a dedicated employee of New York State for 37 ½ years, rising through the ranks from an entry level position to Deputy Superintendent of Administration with the Department of Corrections from which she retired in 2006. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the V.F.W. women’s softball team for over 30 years. She loved to golf and she looked forward to her annual trip to Venice, FL with her family. Elaine will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness, her kind and loving heart and for always being the first to extend a helping hand. She is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Paul McPherson; her daughter, Kay (Eric) Sheffer; her most cherished grandsons, Brandon and Collin; her mother, Lauritta Conner; siblings, Bonnie (Leonard) DeFazio, Barbara (Wayne) Hale, Douglas (Deborah) Higgs, Karen (Michael) Bielak, David Higgs, Dale (Mary Zelinsky) Lawton, Edward Higgins and William Higgins; her father in-law, Homer McPherson; brothers and sisters in-law, Nancy (James) Cushman, James (Cindi) McPherson, Deb (Ken) Smith, Michael (Sue) McPherson, Daniel (Wanda) McPherson, Candy (Steve) Schaal, Tim (Kim) McPherson, Ken (Connie Keller) McPherson and Mary (Kelly) Schaal. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Earl Higgs, step-father, Harry Conner, mother in-law, Ruth McPherson and niece, Pamela DeFazio. Friends may call on Thursday, October 6th from (3-7) at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center Street, Medina. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 7th at 10AM at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, Medina by the Rev. Daniel J. Fawls.
