Obituary of Roy B. Baker, Sr.

Mr. Roy B. Baker, Sr., of Medina, passed away on November 16, 2016 at the Medina Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Baker was born in Johnsonburg, NY, December 16, 1929, a son of the late Odell and Marjorie (Eddy) Baker. On October 28, 1950, he married the former Gertrude Hillyard. Mr. Baker was a US Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Harrison Radiator, as a tow motor operator, for thirty years. He also was employed by the Medina Central School District, as a school bus driver, for twenty four years.
Active in the community, he was a founding member of the Medina Crusaders Motorcycle Club in 1957 and a charter member of the Orleans County Sheriff Department Auxiliary Motorcycle Patrol and served from 1986-1995. He had a great interest in Harley Davidsons. He owned and rode Harley’s since 1945. Through his friendship with Stan’s Harley-Davidson, Inc., he was a longtime customer and friend. Roy was a member of the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) and participated in many HOG events. He enjoyed many Sturgis Motorcycle Rallies. Roy was a member of Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion and the UAW, Local #686.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; two children, Linda (Rich) Pitcher and Roy (Cindy) Baker, Jr.; 4 grandchildren, Jim, Richie (Stacey), Brian (Melinda) and Sara (Andi); 11 great grandchildren, Nickolas, Tyler, Brock, Gunner, Jacob, Elijah, Wyatt, Lukin, Erica, Mike and Zoe; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Clarence and Melvin and a sister, Marie.
Friends may call on Monday (2-5) at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center Street, Medina. Military honors will be accorded at 5PM Monday at the funeral home by members of Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion and Lincoln Post #1483, VFW.
