Obituary of Harold A. Whiting

Mr. Harold A. Whiting, 87, of Medina, passed away on December 19, 2016 at the Medina Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Whiting was born in Hammond, IN, October 19, 1929, the only son of the late Ralph W. and Erma J. (Hale) Whiting. A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1947, he served with the New York National Guard and the Drum Corps. He was a great lover of dogs, enjoyed golf, bowling and played football pools. Mr. Whiting was employed by US Gypsum Company, Thomas J. Lipton Company and Phinney Tool & Die Company. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary (Bensley) Whiting; 2 daughters, Deborah (Jeff) Foster and Melinda “Jello” Whiting; grandchildren, Stephanie (Bill) Harris, Stephen (Ashley) Foster, Thomas “T.J.” Foster, Stacey (Tim) Costich and Scott (Carrie) Colonna; great grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon, and Evan Harris, Bryson and Tessa Costich, Tucker and Jackson Colonna; “grand” dogs, Raven, Mollie, Odessa, Skye, Jack, Michone and Atlas. He was predeceased by his father, long time Medina Fire Chief, Ralph W. Whiting, his mother, Erma Whiting, his daughter, Janice Colonna and son, Barry Whiting. There will be no prior calling hours. A graveside committal service will be held in the spring, 2017, at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PAWS, 3371 Gaines Basin Road, Albion, NY 14411
